The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is launching "CPSC 2.0," a comprehensive social networking initiative that will make lifesaving and other safety information more accessible to consumers. http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09346.html. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from thousands of types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction. The CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard.

Federal agencies have been asked to streamline communications with the public and improve inter-agency information sharing in order to enhance public security.   Therefore, to provide better service in alerting the public to unsafe, hazardous or defective products, six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create
www.Recalls.gov- a "one stop shop" for many U.S. Government recalls.
